Mason's ruby & sapphire mine11/1/2023 Colors for sapphires were bluish-silver, pink and shades of lavender. The largest size for facet quality stones was about three carats. Of course, the source was never uncovered by Tiffany's. This mine was thought to have been furthest from the host rock source since all the stones tended to be smaller, but of better quality compared to the other original non-salted mines in Cowee Valley. They did not have a whole lot of time to mine themselves and I worked there in the summers in between college and did a little mining in between my laboring there. My family used to run the mine from 1996-2003. I thought it would be all right to post a few samples from the Jacobs Ruby Mine once located near Franklin, North Carolina.
